VACANCIES
Policy Volunteer
Are you passionate about helping people and looking for a volunteering opportunity?
Sarah’s office deals with thousands of contacts from local residents asking for help or information on a range of policy issues. To help us get replies out to residents more quickly, we are looking for someone to take up a regular volunteering position.
This work can be done from anywhere in the UK, though we would love you to come and work from Sarah’s Westminster office sometimes, so that you can get the most out of your time volunteering with us.
Our Policy volunteer will help with:
-
Researching and drafting replies to policy queries raised by constituents
-
Monitoring the mass-email campaigns which are sent to Sarah and drafting appropriate replies
-
Various administrative tasks in the Westminster office.
There is no expectation that you will have experience of a similar role. Instead, you should be able to demonstrate and evidence:
-
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills - to include in-person and telephone conversations
-
An understanding of the role of an MP
-
A passion for politics and current affairs
-
Strong research skills
-
Excellent organisational skills
-
Being a self-starter
-
Being in sympathy with the philosophy of the Liberal Democrat party
-
Commitment to keeping information confidential
Because we will need to provide you with training, and set you up with various software sign-ins, we are looking for volunteers who could give us time for at least the next few months. Ideally we would like about 8 hours or more per week, but we are open to any volunteers who can make regular commitments to helping.
We will acknowledge every application and let you know if you have been successful or not. Please note that upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info.

This is a voluntary position without a salary, but some out of pocket expenses will be claimable, which will be agreed in advance with the successful candidate.
Closing date for applications: 23:59 on Sunday 18th January 2026.

To apply, please send your CV (max 2 pages) and a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role (max 1 page) to Sarah.green.mp@parliament.uk
